In XP, you make or download a scenery pack from the. Reading the manual may clear some aspects of XP for you. In summary, I don't think it is possible to do anything beneficial with the "Custom Scenery" directory in the X-Plane 11 Demo, at least not through any conventional methods. I also tried installing HD Mesh Scenery v4 and Ortho4XP tiles for my region (including post-processing 3,928 PNG's to DSFs). The Demo must have a crippled scenery object library or incompatible directory structure. There are no 3D objects beside AI vehicles, runway/taxiway signage and a windsock. Terrain is missing AND all 3D scenery objects visible in WED 1.7.2. I downloaded KOJC and KIXD from the Gateway server and placed them in the "Custom Scenery" directory. On Macs, PCs ported much later than the beginning. The original developer, Austin Meyer, owner of Laminar Research, is still the owner and developer. Reading the XP manual will also teach you all about using XP.

Start XP and in the flight page, pick that airport.

So you can't go very far anyway! Also as ChefRob says, just drop a scenery pack folder into your Custom Scenery folder. You can only fly for a short time before the demo kicks you back to the start. You can load scenery packs but will have an airport surrounded by water only.

In the demo, there is not terrain anywhere outside the two demo areas.
