The year is slowly but surely moving forward, and so is the tech world. The information window in the Finder (MAC) can be used to specify that dcm files will always be opened with the OsiriX DICOM Viewer in the future. To do this, click on the "Change all" button in the information window after selecting the program and the link between the dcm file extension and Osirix Lite is permanently established. When I changed this on my Mac, the Mac wanted to open the file with Toast Titatium 11 - which of course was the wrong idea once again.įor this reason, I first had to use the information window of the file to specify that dcm files should always be opened with the DICOM viewer Osirix Lite in the future. This abbreviation stands for "DICOM Medical Image". If you want the files to be opened with the OsiriX Lite program in the future, you must give them the file extension "dcm". Always open dcm files with Osirix DICOM Viewer Once the IM0 files have been opened, the Finder assigns them a thumbnail. If you double-click the files, the Mac wants them with the Port open, which of course is nonsense.
However, the IM0 files are not assigned to OsiriX because the files have no file extension. One interesting thing I noticed about the Mac: if you have OsiriX Lite installed, the Finder Thumbnails created for the individual recordings. Viewing the MRI or X-ray images is no problem - both on a Mac and on a Windows PC. The DICOM Viewer Osirix Lite is the free version of the OsiriX software that can be used for patients.
The software is available as a Windows version as well as a Mac app. You can zoom in and out and also change the display by changing brightness, contrast and the like. When installing OsiriX Lite, the Mac expects the entry of the admin password. There you have to enter your personal data and an email address to which the download link for the software will be sent, but otherwise the display of the recordings is much more convenient than I thought.
